Morocco-based retail technology startup Z Systems has announced a new funding round aimed at expanding its digital infrastructure for neighborhood retailers and strengthening its distribution platform across the country.
The company disclosed the investment in a LinkedIn announcement, marking another step in its effort to modernize the supply chain that connects brands, wholesalers, and small merchants. Details on the size of the round were not publicly disclosed in the announcement.
Founded by Meriem Benabad, Samer Choumar, and Youssef Ait-Haddouch, the Casablanca-based startup is building a digital marketplace designed to serve traditional neighborhood stores, commonly known as “hanouts.”
The platform links brands and distributors directly with independent retailers while offering tools such as product sourcing, loyalty programs, promotions, and buy-now-pay-later options for end customers.
The approach targets a large segment of Morocco’s retail economy that remains dominated by small independent stores.
Traditional retail accounts for a significant share of fast-moving consumer goods distribution in the country, making digitization of this segment a major opportunity for startups operating in commerce infrastructure.
Through its platform, Z Systems aims to help brands gain better visibility at the retail level while giving merchants access to improved inventory, pricing, and digital services. The company operates a B2B2C model that connects manufacturers, retailers, and consumers through a single ecosystem.
The startup reports that its network already includes tens of thousands of retailers and hundreds of thousands of fulfilled orders, signaling early traction in a market where supply chains are often fragmented and heavily reliant on manual processes.
The latest funding is expected to support further development of the company’s technology stack and accelerate expansion across Morocco’s informal retail sector. Z Systems has previously raised capital from venture firms including MNF Ventures, Witamax, Cash Plus Ventures, and Kalys Ventures as part of an earlier seed round.
Retail infrastructure startups have drawn increasing investor attention across Africa as founders target inefficiencies in distribution, payments, and logistics.
By digitizing everyday neighborhood shops and linking them to suppliers and brands, companies such as Z Systems are positioning themselves at the center of the continent’s large informal commerce networks.
